Background of affiliation: A student from Kure, who studied in Bremerton, sent a letter to the Kure Lions Club saying that the history and geography of Bremerton are similar to those of Kure. Since the sister city relationship began, programs such as high school students exchanging have been ongoing. Every summer vacation, students stay for about one month at the homes of host families in Kure and Bremerton and exchange their culture with local people. The number of friendship ambassadors from both cities has reaches nearly 200.
Bremerton profile: A shipbuilding city with a population of about 40,000 in Washington State. It faces a beautiful strait in the bay of the Olympic Peninsula.Its backdrop is a beautiful national park. In a survey conducted by an American magazine, Bremerton was selected as the best American city to live in. |
